Gdakon Dance Competition
One of Gdakon’s biggest events returns with another edition!

Competition Format
It’s a classic dance competition. Each dancer (solo or group) performs separately to the music of their own choice. Judges give short feedback and then score the dancer in secret. At the end, the winners are announced.
In 2024-2025, we had plenty of fascinating non-dance intermissions. It was a lot of fun! However, this year, we plan to keep this event focused on dancing.
Who can participate
Any Gdakon attendee can join!
We’re always looking for more dancers, so don’t hesitate if you’re interested. :)

How to join
Please use the sign-up form at the top of this page. We will contact you afterwards to give further information.
On-site registrations (during the convention) can be accepted if there are free slots left. Please fill in the form and message the coordinator directly.
If your plans change and you can no longer participate, please let us know as soon as possible!
Fursuiters and non-suiters
Both fursuiters and non-suiters can enter the competition. This year, everyone will compete in the same category.
To make it fair (because fursuits are harder to dance in), fursuit/costume difficulty will be taken into account when judging. For example, a full fursuit is likely to get more bonus points than a partial.
It is still totally possible to win with a partial or even without a fursuit!
Clothes and costumes have to meet the convention rules. If you doubt whether something is allowed, ask us!
Dance groups
We welcome duos and dance groups to join the competition!
It’s enough for one member of the group to send the registration form. We’ll contact you to get the information about your teammates.
Your music
After the registration, you will have plenty of time to send us an audio file with music for your dance. Please try to meet the deadline that our coordinator will give you!
- For solo dancers, music has to be at least 1 minute long, but no longer than 2:20. Anything after 2:20 will be faded out. We recommend keeping it between 1:30 and 2:00.
- Dance groups can have music up to 3 minutes long.
- You can combine multiple songs in your mix.
- There are no strict rules for choosing music. Mature language and themes are fine. We do hold the right to reject a song in special cases (like hateful topics). If you’re not sure, ask us!
- If you need an audio editing tool, Audacity (https://www.audacityteam.org/) is a great free program. It’s easy to learn and has a lot of tutorials online!
Dancing out of the contest
You can request to dance outside of the competition. Your dance will not be judged in that case.
